Konrad Grayburn is a major character in the fifth and sixth seasons, and was previously a recurring character in the first, second, third, and fourth seasons. He is the only son of Ser Kormed Grayburn and is a sworn brother of the Night's Watch, and later becomes one of Jon Snow's closest friends at Castle Black.

Biography[]

Konrad joined the Night's Watch after he fell in love with a prostitute named Myrah that worked in the brothel in Brightbank and impregnated her. Fearing what would happen to him, Myrah, and their child if his family knew that he had sired a bastard, he felt that the only way to keep the secret was to take the black. Myrah would have the child, whom she named Jardan, and became a servant of House Grayburn, keeping her child's parentage a secret.

Season 1[]

Konrad and Jon spar in front of Ser Alliser Thorne, and though Konrad is more skilled than the others, he is not as skilled as Jon. He and Jon seem to get along, as Jon knows Konrad's father from Winterfell.

Konrad is present when Samwell Tarly arrives as Castle Black. Like Jon and Jaran Dragen, Konrad refuses to bully him, and briefly helps Jon fight off the others. Ser Alliser dismisses both Konrad and Jaran. He later helps Jon and Sam clean up the mess hall.

When Lord Commander Mormont hands out assignments, Konrad is assigned to the Rangers. Later, when they are instructed to take their vows, because House Grayburn still keeps the Old Gods as well, Konrad accompanies Jon and Sam to the weirwood heart tree beyond the Wall and says his vows with them, embracing both of them afterwards.

When the bodies of Othor and Jafer Flowers are taken to Castle Black, Konrad is one of those who urges Lord Commander Mormont to burn their bodies.

When Jon briefly deserts the Night's Watch, Konrad accompanies Sam, Pyp and Grenn and go after Jon. All four of them manage to talk Jon into returning to Castle Black.

Season 2[]

Konrad is at Craster's Keep with the rest of the participants in the Great Ranging, and is seen doing menial tasks around the keep, like Sam, Grenn and Edd. He is also shown to be visibly disgusted by Craster's incestuous practices with his daughter-wives, though he knows that there is no fault with the women themselves. He also says he feels sorry for them and that they deserve better.
