Eddin Blackgard: "Why aren't you Lord Commander, Ser Gyles? You're the most experienced - and, if you don't mind me saying, the best - member of the Sentinels. You'd be perfect as Lord Commander."
Gyles Redgrave: "Because, lad, I suppose those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. Those who, like you, have leadership thrust upon them, and take up the mantle because they must, and find to their own surprise that they wear it well."
— Ser Gyles discusses leadership with Eddin shortly after Eddin becomes Lord of Ebonheart.[src]

Ser Gyles Redgrave, also known as Gyles the Good and the Knight of the Red Rocks, is a recurring character in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons. He is a knight of House Redgrave and is currently the oldest member of the Blackgard Sentinels. He is regarded as one of the best knights in the Ashlands despite his advanced age. His father, Ser Gormon Redgrave, was also a member of the Blackgard Sentinels and was even Lord Commander for a time, and was a survivor of the Battle of Sunhold.

Ser Gyles is the only member of the Blackgard Sentinels who doesn't actively participate in the Black Day. Following Steffon Blackgard's coronation as Black King of Ebonheart, he offers to name Ser Gyles as his High Imperator, but Gyles, disgusted by Steffon's actions, refuses and resigns from the Blackgard Sentinels, and has since gone on the run. His current whereabouts are unknown.
