The Forges of Smithestone are located beneath the castle of Smithestone, the seat of House Harrigon in the Stormlands. It is known as the biggest forge in the Seven Kingdoms, maybe even the entire world. Alongside being a forge, it also houses many blacksmiths and their children, functioning as a small town.
History[]
King Orroman Harrigon, the first King of Steel and Silver, wanted his family and descendants to inherit wealth and power, so he began the construction of a small forge beneath his castle. As the years went by, Orroman and his descendants expanded the forges year after year. On his death bed, he told his son Corloss, and all of his bastard sons to carry on the construction of the forges. Lord Corloss, his son Devron, and Devron's son Serrond died before the forges could be completed. One hundred years after Orroman's death, the forges were finally completed by Lord Durran Harrigon.
Alongside a number of blacksmiths from outside of the Stormlands, the Forges also house all of House Harrigon's bastard sons and daughters, most of whom work as blacksmiths themselves. Since Robert's Rebellion, the Forges began housing a number of orphans from King's Landing. House Cavor and House Morst, two knightly houses, reside in or near the forges.
