"It's not that simple. The Marauders have no headquarters, no well-structured chain of command, no real motive. Every time they strike they quickly leave the scene of the crime and are never seen again. They're cowards, that's what they are. They won't dare to engage us in open battle, they always wait in their little hidey-holes and they attack when we least expect it."
Anthor Dyser to Carmine Grayburn

The term "Dyser's Marauders" is a name given to a loose collection of terrorists, reformists, and political adversaries active in almost every region in the Seven Kingdoms, although their presence seems to be most prominent in the Crownlands.

The Marauders are led by rogue Blackwatch operative Godric Dyser. The Marauders initially started out as a branch of the Blackwatch, whose primary objective was to ensure a stable Bolton rule in the North, although their initial political goal quickly turned militaristic. Over time, the Marauders began to ignore orders from Roman Mercer and the Iron Throne. Eventually, the Marauders were labelled as "rogue", and Godric Dyser was called an enemy of the crown, and was quickly attainted of all rights and titles.

The Marauders have been called revolutionaries and terrorists, reformists and extremists. Although their endgame remains ultimately unknown, the Marauders have managed to instil fear into the citizens of the Seven Kingdoms, after committing numerous acts of terror, including manslaughter, thievery, pyromania, fraud, and conspiracy.

In contrast to the Brotherhood Without Banners, the Marauders are organised largely independently. Although all Marauder operatives answer to Godric, they are free to act as they see fit and are not entirely bound to rules or codes. Moreover, the Marauders often act on their own, rarely in groups or armies. Lonely operatives are often unaware of their counterparts. This makes sure that, if one operative is compromised, the others remain relatively risk-free. Marauders tend to infiltrate noble houses or courts, usually as servants or pages. After a successful infiltration, they attempt to destabilise the ruling structure of a court, often turning families against each other, or simply destroying entire supply chains or eliminating key members of a ruling party.

It's nearly impossible to leave the Marauders. Each member gets the organisation's symbol engraved on their lower arms and wrists. Since this makes it easier for a Marauder to be recognised, if someone is caught wearing the symbol on their arm by supporters of the Iron Throne, they are almost immediately tried and/or executed for their crimes. So, if one desires to leave the Marauders, they must remove the symbol on their arm, and this is often done by cutting it away. This is tricky, however, since it is possible for an ex-Marauder to hit an artery while cutting, and subsequently bleeding to death.
