House Tarly
House Tarly

"Randyll: What could you possibly see in that soft, fat, miserable failure?
Darron: Sam's not the failure here, Randyll.
You are."
―Darron arguing with his brother regarding Randyll's poor treatment of Sam.[src]

Ser Darron Tarly is a recurring character in the second, third, sixth, and seventh seasons. He is the younger brother of Lord Randyll Tarly and is the master-at-arms of Horn Hill. Like his brother, Darron is a fiercely capable soldier.

Darron has something of a rocky relationship with his brother Randyll, mostly stemming from his dislike of Randyll's poor treatment of his son Samwell, with whom he has a good relationship.

Early on in the War of the Five Kings, Renly Baratheon appointed him as his Hand of the King in his bid to claim the Iron Throne. After Renly's death, Darron was apart of House Tyrell's host that arrived at the conclusion of the Battle of the Blackwater and for his heroics in the battle, was named to the Small Council to act as a military advisor to King Joffrey. However, when he heard about the Red Wedding, he left the council in disgust and returned to Horn Hill to reassume his duties as master-at-arms.

Unlike his brother and nephew, Darron decided to bend the knee to Daenerys Targaryen following her victory at the Battle of the Goldroad. With Randyll and Dickon's death, it can be assumed that Darron is the new Warden of the South.

He is the husband of Clarysse Hightower, with whom he has one daughter, Marna Tarly. After coming of age, Lord Randyll's ward Ser Alan Orben was wed to Marna. From this marriage, Darron would become the grandfather of Marna's two sons, Randyll and Lorent.
